Start TAFE Now Course Options
The Start TAFE Now (STN) program offers you the opportunity to gain real trade skills and qualifications while still completing high school. You may be eligible to study a fee-free course funded by the Queensland Government under the VET in Schools (VETiS) program. The courses advertised as a VETiS funded are dependent on eligibility criteria. If eligible you can complete only one program using VETiS funding.Â
Qualifications that are not funded under the VETiS program, are available to study as a full-free paying course.

Subsidised Courses
The Queensland Government’s VET in Schools (VETiS) program is fee-free for students. Course specific costs may be applicable, an example would be high vis clothes and safety boots for trade courses.Â
The following courses are now open for applications for the remainder of 2023:
- CHC22015 - Certificate II in Community Services (Early Childhood specialisation)
- SHB20216 - Certificate II in Salon Assistant
Non-Subsidised Courses (Domestic Students)*
CQUniversity offers the following non-subsidised courses for 2023 as part of the Start TAFE Now program, this means that you will be charged the full course cost. The following courses are now open for applications for the remainder of 2023:
- BSB30120- Certificate III in Business
- CHC30121 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- CHC30221 - Certificate III in School Based Education Support
- CUA31120 - Certificate III in Visual Arts
- SIS30321 - Certificate III in Fitness
- 10971NAT - Certificate IV in Justice Studies
*These courses are full fee-paying courses and are not on the Queensland Government Priority Skills List. If fees are applicable to your studies, you may be eligible for a payment plan to manage the costs of your studies.

VET Student LoansÂ
VET Student Loans is an Australian Government loan scheme to assist eligible students studying diploma level and above qualifications to pay their tuition fees. It cannot be used for other study-related costs such as accommodation or textbooks.Â
