How to Apply

Once you have decided to train or study at CQUniversity, the next step is to apply and we are here to assist you every step of the way.

Are you a new student in 2021? You'll need a USI

The Unique Student Identifier (known as a USI) is a reference number made up of a combination of ten numbers and letters.

From 1 January 2021, new higher education students will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to be eligible for Commonwealth assistance (Commonwealth supported place (CSP) and Commonwealth financial assistance (HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP, and OS-HELP). From 1 January 2023, all students must have, and provide, a USI in order to graduate and receive their award.

You can apply for a USI at any time. You will need at least one form of valid identification and about five minutes to create one. Think you might already have a USI? If you have previously completed any VET study, you may already have a USI and can search for your existing USI.

Once you have your USI, you're ready to apply. Depending on how you apply will determine what step you will be asked to supply your USI. If you aren't prompted for a USI during your application, you will receive a task in MyCQU to supply your USI before the first census date.

International onshore students can apply for a USI once in Australia.
