Getting into TAFE

TAFE courses tend to have enrolments throughout the year, with many courses available monthly. If you would like to study a TAFE course, it is a good idea to apply as early as possible, prior to the commencement of the TAFE course intake. An early application will help increase your opportunity to secure a place in the course and allow time to prepare for your studies.

Before you apply, you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have a USI, creating one is quick and easy. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.

Most TAFE courses offer direct application with CQUniversity, rather than applying via a Tertiary Admission Centre (TAC) such as QTAC. To find out the best way to apply, and to apply directly, visit the course web page and read the how to apply section.

HOW TO APPLY

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

When enrolling in a CQUniversity TAFE certificate or diploma course you only need to pay the tuition cost for the units in which you are enrolled. This means the full course cost does not need to be paid for in advance.  Payment plans are available for eligible applicants, contact us to find out more about payment plans.

There may be other costs associated with your study, and these vary depending upon the course you are undertaking. These costs may include course-specific materials, clothing, tools, textbooks, or administrative fees such as replacement student cards.

Wondering about your options to pay for your study?

If you are applying for a TAFE course, there are several Government subsidies that may reduce the price of tuition fees. Eligibility will apply, and this varies depending upon the specific subsidy. These subsidies, if you are eligible, apply regardless of your income. For further information visit TAFE Subsidised Training. You may also be eligible for a VET Student Loan if studying a diploma or advanced diploma.

Scholarships are also a great way to help offset some of the costs of study. With a wide range of scholarships available now is a great time to explore and get started on a scholarship application.
