Social Innovation Studios and Workshops

Bringing students, academics and communities together, CQUniversity’s Social Innovation Studio aims to create new approaches to old challenges.

The residential opportunity embeds students from across Australia in a regional CQUniversity community, to experience and understand its challenges.

As they develop local knowledge, and understanding of social innovation principles, and drive innovative solutions.

In 2017, the eight-day program saw students tackle real-life problems facing three organisations: Welcoming Intercultural Neighbours’ youth arm Gladstone Youth for Cultural Diversity, arts group Creative Recycling, and social enterprise Agapi which supports young people with disabilities.

In 2018 the Office of Social Innovation ran a shorter version of this studio, the Three Day Workshop. This workshop was held in Brisbane and allowed students to work with MultiCap to  tackle real-life challenges the organisation faced around future employment opportunities for its clients.

After the success of this pilot CQUniversity will be delivering this workshop to other campuses in 2019.
