If you have recently completed Year 12 at high school or the equivalent via a vocational education and training (VET) provider, in the past two years your application will be assessed based on your year 12 results.

Whether you were ATAR eligible or completed other qualifications and certificates while in school, you’ll receive an entry score, also known as a selection rank.

Your entry score

To be eligible for entry to a CQU course, your recent secondary education and study completed while in high school, will be used to determine an entry score that can be used to meet entry score requirements for a CQU course.

As a current Year 12 student eligible for an ATAR your application will be considered for an offer based on your ATAR result.

If your course has pre-requisites, you also need to satisfy these.

If you are a current Year 12 student ineligible to receive an ATAR, you will be assigned a selection rank based on your Year 12 study and will be considered for an offer based on this (or other recognised qualifications undertaken while at school).

If your course has pre-requisites, you also need to satisfy these.

If you have completed other recognised qualifications at school such as competency-based and graded AQF Certificates III and IV, diplomas, higher education study, and some creative arts qualifications (in the areas of music, dance, and speech), then you will also be assigned a selection rank and you will be considered for an offer based on this selection rank.

Performing Arts qualifications

If you have completed certain Performing Arts qualifications at a minimum of seventh grade, CQU will assign a selection rank that can be used when applying for a CQU course.

As a current International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma student you will be assigned a selection rank based on your score from your completed IB Diploma.

As agreed by admissions centres around Australia, the IB score is converted to a 'combined rank'. The combined rank is on the same scale as the ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank). If you are an IB Diploma student, you will be considered for an offer based on this combined rank (or other recognised qualifications undertaken while at school).

Your results from Home Schooling, Accelerated Christian Education and other non-standard Year 12 programs (with SAT tests) may be assigned a selection rank and you will be considered for an offer based on this selection rank (or other recognised qualifications undertaken while at school).

Some exceptions may apply to courses with additional entry requirements.

As an applicant with overseas Year 12 study, you can still apply to study a university course. CQUniversity will consider equivalent overseas Year 12 qualifications for admissions purposes.

If you have secondary or tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.
