Skills gained through this training can be applied across a range of tourism, hospitality and catering environments, including restaurants, cafe's, hotels, clubs, catering operations and other businesses where food safety supervision and compliance are required.

This program is typically delivered over an 8-week period. As the training is competency based, students may be able to complete their studies sooner if they demonstrate the required skill level.
Students must complete the online theory component before attending the practical observation assessment on campus.
This skill set is delivered via mixed mode study combining online and in-person attendance. Theory training is completed online through Moodle, CQUniversity's learning platform. Practical skills training and assessment are conducted face-to-face in a training kitchen environment at your enrolled CQUniversity campus.
Students are encouraged to maintain regular contact with their teacher throughout the program to receive feedback and support for their learning. Teaching staff will advise students when they are able to attend their practical observation session on campus. Dates, times and locations will be provided by teachers.

This course has no residential schools.

While not needed to apply, you will need to meet the following requirements throughout your studies.
Fee for Service/Full Fee occurs when the full tuition fee is charged to students. This may occur when the course is not included in government subsidy program/s or the student is not eligible for a government subsidy. These students are obligated to cover the entire cost. Some government-funded training programs, such as Career Start and Career Boost, require students to contribute to the cost of their education through a co-contribution fee. This fee varies depending on the course and the student's eligibility for a concessional rate. Additional costs, such as uniforms and course resources, may also apply.
