The Graduate Diploma of International Business provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a successful career as a manager within multinational corporations. 

You will study eight core units covering management topics in effective business communications, managing human resources, and management. Your study will also focus on international management functions and practices including international financial management, international human resource management, governance and business law, and global marketing. 

Examine foreign exchange markets, Euromarkets, parity concepts and applications, exchange rate forecasting, cost of capital, risk management strategies, portfolio management and capital budgeting tools in an international environment to equip you with knowledge of international financial management. Gain an understanding of the human resource functions, operations, policies and practices that are applicable to the transference of employees for work purposes from one country to another, and the complexities of working in global organisations. You will learn how to address the legal status of organisations and the corporate governance structures that should be established to ensure company directors and managers fulfill their legal and ethical obligations. Finally, develop knowledge of international marketing theories, practices and strategies.

Upon completion of the first four units, you will be eligible to satisfy the interim or exit award of the Graduate Certificate of Management, or upon completion of the Graduate Diploma of International Business, you will be eligible to pathway into the Master of Business Management with credit for eight units.

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold:

  • A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent Bachelor degree, or higher equivalent qualification.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

  • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
  • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
  • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
  • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.
