Study a Bachelor of Midwifery with CQU and gain the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours essential for contemporary midwifery practice.
Grounded in a woman-centred philosophy, this course emphasises continuity of care, cultural safety, and collaborative practice across a diverse range of settings.
While engaging with core midwifery concepts, including the care of women, infants, and their families during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period, you will also explore broader issues such as reproductive rights, primary health care, professional ethics, and the social determinants of health.
Throughout your studies, you will undertake 960 hours of clinical placement, engaging with at least ten women during their pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum care journey.
This course also places a strong emphasis on developing effective communication and collaboration skills within intra- and interprofessional teams to facilitate safe and inclusive care. You will be supported to use innovative information technologies and digital health tools, in accordance with professional frameworks, to enhance practice and ensure safe, quality medication management aligned with relevant national standards.
If you are a registered nurse or paramedic and wish to pursue a career in midwifery, the Master of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) is an ideal option for you.
