Successful completion of ICT50220 - Diploma of Information Technology may result in employment outcomes such as IT Support Officer, System Administrator, Network Administrator, and IT Office Manager. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, as part of a team or leading a deliverable with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

This course has been designed to be completed through online study over 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time. Students will enrol following our cluster based enrolment model, designed by our experienced teaching team. With this model, related units are pre-planned and grouped together to complement each other, creating a more cohesive and effective learning experience. Each cluster of units has been designed for a study length of 14 weeks.

Full-time study requires an approximate time commitment of 35 hours per week across the full duration of the program whereas part-time study will require approximately 17.5 hours per week.

Requirements

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment prior to enrolment, unless you have completed an equal or higher level course.

During your study
While not needed to apply, you'll need to meet the following requirements throughout your studies.

  • Access to webcam, microphone and internet.
  • Access to a Windows based computer (or Windows installation on Mac OS) with a minimum of 8GB RAM (16GB strongly recommended) and 250GB of free storage capacity.
  • Willingness to work within a team of peers in simulated learning and assessment activities including appearing visually and verbally via video conference

To successfully complete this qualification, it is recommended that students meet the following requirements:

  • Access to two or more computer screens to assist with simultaneous use of software applications
  • Minimum age of 18 or mature outlook, with completion of Year 12 or equivalent
  • Willingness to engage in peer and teacher interaction for learning and assessment support activities
  • Informal or formal experience in working with ICT at a technical level

Students commencing their skills development in ICT are encouraged to consider ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology. If in doubt about suitability please contact us.

 

Fees & Scholarships

Fee for Service/ Full Fee

Fee for Service/Full Fee occurs when the full tuition fee is charged to students. This may occur when the course is not included in government subsidy program/s or the student is not eligible for a government subsidy. These students are obligated to cover the entire cost. Co-Contribution and Co-Contribution Concessional Fee

Some government-funded training programs, such as Certificate 3 Guarantee and Higher Level Skills, require students to contribute to the cost of their education through a co-contribution fee. This fee varies depending on the course and the student's eligibility for a concessional rate. Additional costs, such as uniforms and course resources, may also apply. Starting the 1st of July 2025, the Queensland Government is updating its TAFE subsidy offerings. Students commencing from this date will need to be reassessed, potentially requiring additional documentation to maintain their funding. Those who do not provide the necessary documents, or are no longer eligible, may lose their subsidy and continue as full-fee-paying students. This course is included in the Australian Government’s VET Student Loan (VSL) program, assisting eligible students pay tuition fees.
