Due to financial and societal barriers, many First Nations students must pass on opportunities that could change their or others’ lives.

Your donation will help establish a First Nations Research Pathway Program and will help provide wider opportunities and support for First Nations students.

Under the mentorship and support of a dedicated supervisor, the pathway program will assist First Nations students gain new skills and knowledge by leading research activities such as:

  • Literature reviews
  • Data analysis
  • Conducting surveys
  • Field and / or lab work
  • Observational projects

Increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in higher education is a national priority.

CQUniversity is dedicated to supporting and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their goals. 

As part of our commitment to our Reconciliation Action Plan, we have identified that there are not enough First Nations researchers, and we are determined to close that gap.

I'm Melinda and I'm a Darumbal and South Sea Islander woman.

I'm one of a small group of First Nations PhD graduates at CQUniversity and I am passionate about Education and Research opportunities for First Nation's people.

Support and mentorship make a huge difference while you're learning how to become a researcher.

Today, I am asking you to please consider donating to the First Nations Research Pathway Program as part of the 2023 CQUniCares Appeal.

Your donation will enable more first students to have opportunities to complete research activities under the mentoring and supervision of First Nations researchers.

Your support will contribute to creating First Nations experts in a range of disciplined areas. 

A pool of research leaders will be available to support First Nations communities to restore and maintain indigenous knowledge and cultures, build community capacity and help First Nations communities realise the many aspirations they have for themselves.
