Many students are doing it tough

Every single person deserves to further themselves through university education, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.

Unfortunately, the reality is that financial hardship can make achieving this very difficult for some students, no matter how hardworking or deserving.

When you donate to CQUniCares Student Success Scholarships, your generosity helps provide equal access to education for students who may miss out on the opportunity.

With current costs of living increasing, students are being faced with added pressure. University is not always easy, and financial stress is one of the top four reasons why university students don’t complete their studies.

Your donation will help provide financial relief to students and enable life changing education.

You Can Make a Difference Today, for Our Students

Your donation will have an impact that goes far beyond the immediate financial need.

Education opens doors of opportunity, provides financial stability for families, and makes a positive long-term contribution to the community.

CQUniversity has recently been ranked #3 in the world (out of 1,261 participating institutions) in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for our actions to meet the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 10, "Reduced Inequalities".

We are proud to have some of the highest ratios of students who are first-in-family, regional, low socio-economic, mature aged, or from a disadvantaged background.

Many of these students face additional barriers during their studies and relief from financial stress could empower them to complete their qualification.

Through your donation, you will enable life-changing education through new scholarships awarded in early 2026.

You can help relieve student financial hardship.

Scholarship recipient Dionne Singleton

My name is Dionne. Last year I graduated from CQU with a Bachelor of Laws. During my studies, I was lucky enough to receive a donor-funded scholarship, which really helped me financially.

After high school, I completed an Associate Degree in Law but was unable to obtain a full law degree due to family circumstances. I went on to work in the legal industry for many years but always regretted not finishing my degree.

Social Justice has always been my passion, particularly youth justice. Over the years, I realised that I could offer more to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community if I obtained a full law degree, and so I enrolled at CQU as a mature student with a family.

I was at work when I received the email about my scholarship.  The relief I felt was incredible as it was a tough period for me financially.  I was initially hoping to receive some financial assistance to purchase textbooks but was not expecting to be the recipient of a generous scholarship.

The scholarship was also a confidence booster, and to have the support of the donor and to be connected with a mentor was incredibly helpful.

Since graduating, I’ve been working towards completing my Practical Legal Training and I am aiming for admission to the Legal Profession this year. I will always be grateful for the scholarship which helped me get to where I am today.

Please donate through the 2025 CQUniCares Appeal to support other students like me.
