More ways to change the world with iChange

Published:26 November 2019

CQUni introduced the iChange social innovation orientation program in February 2018.

Everyone at CQUni can contribute to growing social innovation activity and impact, and the best place to start is iChange!

iChange is CQUniversity's free, fast-paced and informative online course that introduces social innovation at CQUni, and completing it now earns students and staff a digital badge, too.

The first of its kind in Australia, iChange features students, staff and community partners, and links participants to people making a difference across Australia and internationally.

Recently updated to include videos from Vice-Chancellor Prof Nick Klomp and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) and BHP Chair of Indigenous Engagement Prof Adrian Miller, the program includes stories, activities and tools to drive innovation in community, and across careers.

iChange is also part of CQUni’s micro-credentials pilot program, and completion will earn you a digital badge via the Acclaim platform, to display on LinkedIn, your digital resume, and on social media.

Director of Social Innovation Lara Carton said developing the social innovation mindset for staff and students was a big part of CQUni's 2019-2023 Strategic Plan, Our Future Is You.

"Social innovation is key to implementing some big plans for CQUni: embedding it in curriculum for students, modelling it across operations within community, and upholding it as a philosophy to grow CQUni's changemaker reputation," Ms Carton explained.

Available now through Moodle with staff or student login details, iChange takes just two hours, and thousands of staff and students have already tackled the inspiring program.

"Our research throughout the iChange pilot found that the majority of participants take on the program wanting to change the world, but less than half are confident they can affect that change," Ms Carton said.

"At completion of the course, more than two thirds said they'd discovered more ideas about practical ways to make a difference through iChange."

As CQUniversity's Office of Social Innovation works towards re-accreditation as a Changemaker University with Ashoka U, there’s never been a better time to explore social innovation, and to encourage students and colleagues to get involved too.

Help CQUni prepare for a big year driving social change in 2020, and complete iChange today.
