JOB PROSPECTS

After completion of this course individuals can be employed as Beauty Therapists including treatments such as facial treatments, body massage, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products. A beauty therapist must be able to create and build a client base, encourage repeat custom through consistent re-booking of clients and provide knowledgeable advice in regards to products and services.

This qualification is for someone who is highly motivated, can work independently, and deliver a range of high quality treatments in diverse settings. The role of a beauty therapists is to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products. Their work involves the self-directed application of knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas where judgement and initiative is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques. Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas.

A beauty therapist must be able to create and build a client base, encourage repeat custom through consistent re-booking of clients and provide knowledgeable advice in regards to products and services. 

Rockhampton City Course Structure

Duration:

This program is typically delivered over an 18 month period, however as it is competency based, it may be possible for learners to complete their training sooner if they have reached the required skill level.

Gladstone Course Structure

Duration:

New students: three days per week, two weeks per month over 18 months. 

Continuing students: two days per week, two weeks per month over 12 months, depending on units required to complete.

Mackay City Course Structure

Duration:

This course is delivered at the Mackay City Campus:

- New students: One week per month over 18 months. Class will be Monday – Friday from 8:45am – 4pm on the IIW (Intensive Internal Workshop) 1 week for practical workshop each month. Every fortnight is Monday, Tuesday for theory content classes. Friday is for any catch-up practical classes or extra practical classes to make up the required hours.

- Continuing students: One week per month over 12 months depending on units required to complete.

There are no entry requirements for this course, however, completion of another Beauty qualification would be advantageous.
