There are two options for completing the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques.

Students who are working in a suitable laboratory can enrol directly into the Certificate IV without prior completion of the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills. These students can complete the required practical components of the course within their workplace laboratory under a co-assessment plan. Suitability of the workplace laboratory to complete all assessment requirements must be confirmed with the teaching team before enrolment. Students may be required to attend specific practical components at CQU practical blocks at the Mackay Ooralea Campus if the work laboratory does not fulfill all practical requirements.

Students who are not working in a suitable laboratory must complete the Certificate III in Laboratory Skills first before enrolling in the Certificate IV. These students must attend compulsory practical blocks (up to three blocks depending on chosen electives) at the Mackay Ooralea Campus.

Enquiries can be sent to VET-Science-Centre@cqu.edu.au.

Required: Completion of literacy and numeracy assessment pre-enrollment in the form of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment or to have completed an equal or higher level course
