Overview
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is designed to develop your skills and enable you to combine an understanding of engineering concepts with modern technology. Choose between major options, allowing you to pursue a career as an Engineering Technologist in traditional engineering disciplines, or an aircraft maintenance engineer.
If you choose to study civil, electrical or mechanical majors, your education and training will equip you with the skills to innovatively apply, modify and adapt engineering practices to meet engineering challenges and problems for communities, society and the environment. Tailor your course by choosing from a wide range of streams to suit your personal interests and career goals. View the majors and minors section below for more information on the streams contained within each major. The course utilises exciting technologies and has a project-based focus so you benefit from a more hands-on learning experience and have the ability to study on-campus in a non-traditional format or by online study.
You will have the opportunity to engage with practicing engineers, work on industry-sponsored projects and have access to an industry-based scholarship offered by some of Australia's leading companies. Nine weeks of industry placement during the course also allows you to apply your skills and increase your employability by gaining on-the-job experience. If you are interested in the aircraft maintenance (avionics) major, you will benefit from our partnership with Aviation Australia and an accelerated pathway to reach Licence Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) status where you will cover all the competencies of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Aviation Australia Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionics) and foundations of professional engineering.
Graduates of Aviation Australia’s Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Avionics (10600NAT) require five years to fulfil the on-the-job requirement and meet the application requirement to gain the LAME status. You will study on-campus in the Aviation Australia Brisbane campus for the first 1.5 years and, upon completion, have the option to study the remainder of your course on campus at Rockhampton or online in your home country. By studying another 1.5 years more with CQUniversity, graduates will achieve the requirements to apply for LAME status in just two years. This means you can enter the aviation workforce sooner, with two awards: the Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Avionics, approved by EASA and a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Aircraft Maintenance – Avionics), as well as enhanced knowledge to excel in managerial roles.
