If you have previously studied at another institution, you may be eligible for credit or, recognition of prior learning (RPL), also known as credit exemption and advanced standing.

Application Timelines

As applications for credit and RPL are assessed on a case-by-case basis, it’s important you allow enough time for your application to be processed ahead of your studies.

Ensure you submit your application at least four (4) weeks before the commencement of your term. To find key start dates relevant to your course, refer to the CQUniversity Academic Calendars.

Application Process

If you’re a new International student applying for credit or RPL, you must have your application approved in writing, as part of your admission application through iStart (our international application portal), before you enrol.

Important Application Conditions

Credit will only be considered for studies undertaken at a diploma level or higher qualification within the last ten (10) years. Please note some courses and units may have a shorter time frame due to professional accreditation rules and industry requirements.

A time limit of less than 10 years applies for some courses and units due to relevant professional accrediting body requirements, statutory authority and/or industry advisory group requirements.

If you have studied at an institution outside Australia, please ensure that all documentation provided is official and translated into English.
