Overview

CQUniversity's Masters of Information Systems is an ideal course to advance your career or expand your expertise in information system processes, providing you the skills to contribute to future organisational growth and change.

In this course, you will focus on building highly sought-after skills in enterprise systems solutions including emerging technologies, big data and business intelligence to enhance management and organisational performance. You will then be able to tailor your studies even further to suit your career goals with a choice of seven minors including a unique opportunity to study a unit sequence allowing you to graduate with both a Master of Information Systems and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management.

Accredited by the Australian Computer Society, this highly practical and industry-relevant degree will provide you with leading-edge knowledge and skills and features the option to complete a 12-week internship or capstone project.

The Master of Information Systems provides you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in information technology, with a focus on business analysis skills at a professional level. Within this highly relevant framework you will be well prepared to contribute to future growth and change, whilst at the same time enhancing your individual advancement opportunities. This course develops your capacity to manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems within an organisation in any industry. 

Choose from a range of minors including artificial intelligence, internet of things, mobile application development, networks and information security, project management, or software design and development and tailor your studies to suit your career goals and interests.

This course will provide you with the choice of completing an internship or project stream to contextualise your learning. Generally, the internship will be made of up a 10-week placement with a relevant organisation, with assessments completed throughout the term. Please note, internships cannot be taken at your current employer. Alternatively, the capstone stream provides the opportunity to apply your knowledge to an industry-relevant project. Projects in the capstone stream may be taken with your employer, provided other students can also participate in the same project. 

Designed to meet the requirements of industry and future-proof your career, all units have been aligned to the Australian Computer Society (ACS) core body of knowledge.

You will study 11 units, including the first ten units listed below. You will then choose one elective from the following units:

  • Information Systems Project (COIT20254).

Artificial Intelligence Minor

The Artificial Intelligence Minor consists of four units, including the first three units listed below. You will then choose one elective unit from the following:

  • Cloud Computing and Internet of Things for Smarter Applications (COIT20260)
  • Introduction to the Internet of Things (COIT29226).

In this minor, you will develop practical and theoretical skills to apply artificial intelligence techniques to develop intelligent systems with advanced capabilities.

Depending on the unit availability, you may be required to enrol in some units online.

Information Systems Project - COIT20254

Students are able to undertake discipline capstone units while working with industry partners.

Postgraduate ICT Internship - COIT20276

Students have the option of undertaking an internship instead of the capstone unit COIT20254.

This is an approximate cost of enrolling in this course, shown in Australian dollars (A$), for one academic year and is based on a full-time study load (8 units over 2 terms). 

Your actual fees may vary, depending on the units that you select to study and your study load. Fees are reviewed each year and are subject to change.

International Course Fees
