The CQUniCares Technology Bursary supports students from regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons who, without financial assistance, are not able to purchase or repair a computer/laptop or other technologies or software required for their studies. The CQUniCares Technology Bursary consists of a laptop, laptop bag, mouse, Microsoft Windows 10 Home, and a warranty care package.


To be eligible to receive the CQUniCares Technology Bursary successful applicants must:

  • Be identified as living in regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons for the duration of enrolment with CQUniversity.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study in Term 3, 2024:
    • Bachelor
    • Associate Degree
    • Advanced Diploma (Higher Education)
    • Diploma (Higher Education)*
  • Be studying a minimum term study load of 6 credit points or more at Census date of Term 3, 2024.
  • Be an Australian, New Zealand Citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Visa**
  • Not currently in receipt of a CQUniversity Scholarship/Sponsorship or a Scholarship/Sponsorship where payments are administered by CQUniversity or already received a CQUniCares Technology Bursary or a Dare to be Deadly Technology Bursary.

** Must have a permanent home address in Australia

As per the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) Funding requirements, the funds provided as part of this program are directed exclusively towards students studying an undergraduate course from regional and remote Australia (as defined by ABS), low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds (as defined by ABS), and/or Indigenous persons.

As a scholarship recipient, you will be asked to participate in a feedback survey. You may also be approached to assist with positively promoting the CQUniversity Scholarships program by sharing your experiences as a recipient through media or invited to attend events such as Orientation or Open Day.

Payment of scholarship

Successful applicants are to ensure their residential address and phone number are up to date in MyCQU.

Postage and delivery to the nominated residential address will be arranged within 7 business days following post Census date eligibility checks. This scholarship cannot be redeemed for cash. Requests for early postage will not be considered.

All requests for further information to support applications will be sent to the CQUniversity student email account. Failure to supply further information will deem the application incomplete and will not be considered.

To apply for a CQUniCares Technology Bursary:

  1. Contact the Student Scholarships team by emailing studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au requesting an application form.
  2. Once the first eligibility checks are conducted, the Student Scholarships team will send an application form to your student email.
  3. Return the completed form and relevant supporting documentation to studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au.
Students will be notified of the outcome of their application via their student email accounts only. Decisions are final.
