PASS is open to all students enrolled in participating units and provides a relaxed, inclusive, and non-judgemental learning environment.
PASS sessions are delivered online via Zoom, making them accessible to both on-campus and online students. There is no need to register or commit to ongoing attendance - students can join as many sessions as they like. Session times and Zoom links are available through the PASS Moodle unit.
Sessions are facilitated by trained PASS Leaders - high-achieving students who have previously completed the unit. PASS Leaders use structured, collaborative activities to help students review key concepts, apply course content, and develop effective study strategies.
PASS sessions are collaborative and interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, discuss ideas, and learn from one another. Rather than re-teaching lectures or tutorials, PASS focuses on how to learn - supporting students to deepen their understanding, identify knowledge gaps, and approach assessments with greater confidence. Students are encouraged to actively participate, share perspectives, and support each other’s learning.
By attending PASS regularly, students can benefit from improved study habits, increased motivation, and a stronger sense of connection to their peers and the university community. Research consistently shows that students who participate in PASS are more likely to stay engaged, feel supported, and succeed academically. PASS also helps students develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and independent learning, enhancing their overall university experience.
You can contact the Peer Advising Team via studentenrichment@cqu.edu.au. The team can help with session information, timetables, or details about becoming a PASS Leader.
Sessions usually include group discussions, problem-solving activities, exam prep, and review of key concepts from lectures and tutorials - all in a relaxed, supportive environment. PASS sessions don’t focus on completing or reviewing individual assessments, but they can help you build the skills and understanding to tackle them confidently.
Not quite. PASS isn’t a replacement for lectures or tutorials. Instead, it’s a fun, interactive way to reinforce what you’ve learned and build confidence through discussion and teamwork.
Attendance isn’t mandatory, but regular participation is encouraged - students who attend PASS regularly often perform better in their units.
PASS helps you improve your understanding of course material, develop effective study skills, build confidence, and connect with other students in your unit.
Not at all! PASS is for everyone. Whether you want to boost your understanding, stay on track, or aim for a higher grade, PASS sessions can benefit you.
PASS sessions begin in Week 2 of each term.
