‘OCHRe’ Our Collaborations in Health Research

About the Research Project

OCHRe is a culturally secure and inclusive network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers from across Australia and sovereign Indigenous Nations.

The network is dedicated to building the unique skills of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research leaders working at the interface of culture, science, and health – with the ultimate aim of improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples across Australia.

It is fundamental that the foundations of the network are embedded in our cultural roots (or ancestry). The development and achievements of the network need to amplify our Indigenous knowledges and ensure they are preserved, respected , and handed on to future generations through a strong and sustainable OCHRe National Network.

Impact

OCHRe will devliver long term, transformative outcomes, including:

  • Growth and sustainability of the national network
  • A research capability program that strives for excellence in two worlds
  • Excellence in community engagement
  • Connectedness
  • A culturally safe research ecosystem
  • Support for the next generation of Indigenous research leaders
