Fostering the Future of Education Equality

About the Research Project

Higher education scholarships, particularly donor or philanthropic funded scholarships, have become a key component of the support mechanisms underpinning academic success for many students.
What is not well understood however, are the direct and indirect impacts and outcomes of scholarship investments on regional and remote recipients, their families, communities and the wider social, cultural and economic impacts that may ripple out from these financial and other interventions. This project aims to determine the ongoing direct and indirect impacts that occur for individuals and families and communities.

Impact

  • Quantify and qualify the long-term impacts of scholarships on individuals, families and communities from regional and remote areas, extending beyond graduation.
  • Capture the social, economic, and cultural ripple effects at the family and community levels.
  • As a longitudinal study, it will also fill a gap in the understanding of the sustained return on philanthropic investment in higher education.
