Redesigning Landcare policy to better coordinate land conservation across landholders (ARC Discover Project)
About the Research Profile
This project aims to study how landscape-sensitive economic incentives and social norms can be leveraged to enhance the short- and long-term effectiveness of conservation programs. It will yield new knowledge for innovative designs in conservation contracting that is urgently needed to address worsening environmental threats in Australia and worldwide. The project is developing protocols that improve ability to generate better data and better understand how social and incentive mechanisms can constructively interact to facilitate collaborative environmental action. The results may contribute to more cost-effective environmental target achievement and efficient public fund utilization.
Impact
This project will create smarter conservation programs that encourage landholders work together, protect landscapes more effectively, and deliver lasting environmental results with better value for public investment.
