About the Research Project

The Fitzroy and Capricornia Regional Drought Resilience Plan (2022-2030) aims to enhance the drought resilience of central Queensland’s agricultural and rural communities. Developed through collaboration with local stakeholders, this plan focuses on improving regional coordination, building community resilience, and supporting sustainable agriculture. Key actions include better data availability, improved drought mapping, coordinated regional responses, and adaptive planning to address climate risks. The plan also emphasizes the importance of local knowledge, innovative water management, and proactive measures to reduce the long-term impacts of drought on communities and industries.

Project lead: Professor John Rolfe

Professor John Rolfe is a leading economist specializing in regional development, agricultural economics, and environmental resource management. With extensive experience in economic modelling, project evaluation, and natural resource management, Professor Rolfe's work focuses on supporting sustainable economic growth in regional communities.
