Associate Professor Linda Pfeiffer
Australia Pacific LNG STEM Central Project Lead
Associate Professor Linda Pfeiffer is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and the Arts, CQUniversity, based at the Gladstone Marina campus. Linda is the Australia Pacific LNG STEM Research Central project lead, and she coordinates the Science and STEM units in the undergraduate and postgraduate Primary and Early Childhood Education courses.
Linda has a broad range of successful teaching experiences in primary, secondary and tertiary education, and she is a Research Higher Degree Supervisor. Linda's passion is STEM education and engagement, and she has received two CQUniversity Engagement Opal Awards. Linda works with industry, community groups and local schools to improve STEM outcomes across all sectors. She has two edited books, book chapters, journal papers and conference presentations, and she is regularly invited as a guest speaker to events.
Linda won the 2016 Women in STEM Research Prize for her work with schools on science education and engagement events. She was also a semi-finalist in the Queensland Community Awards in 2019. Linda is considered a STEM education expert and has attracted more than $1.2m in external funding. Linda works across disciplines in Virtual Reality, agriculture, and robotics as well as marine ecology and applied sciences.
Dr Bruce Knight
Dip Teach, BEd, MEd (SpEd), PhD, FIARLD
Professor Knight has completed a great deal of study in the area of teaching and learning, undertaking high-impact applied research that leads to sustainable benefits for all students.
He is a specialist in learning design and pedagogy to enhance participant outcomes across all forms of education and mental health. Current research interests include the enhancement of teachers' and students' STEM skills and the promotion of maker space pedagogy.
Professor Knight has successfully supervised 27 doctoral candidates and his areas of research have resulted in 219 peer-reviewed publications and the completion of large research projects worth more than AUD$7 million from such granting bodies as the Australian Research Council and Commonwealth and State Government agencies.
In 2006 he was honoured with a Fellowship from the International Academy of Research in Learning Disabilities, with Fellows considered the world's leaders in the scientific study of human problems related to learning.
Project Officer STEM Education
Kathryn Tabone is a Senior Project Officer at STEM Central, CQUniversity, Gladstone Marina Campus. Kathryn is a community engagement practitioner specialising in facilitation and community engagement strategies design and delivery.
Kathryn's work experience includes the development and implementation of community capacity-building projects, community planning and social policy development. Kathryn has significant experience in developing social strategies and writing funding submissions. In addition, Kathryn has comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing a wide variety of engagement methods and social research techniques. Reporting and project management are also areas in that Kathryn has expertise.
Before joining CQUniversity Kathryn worked in several different roles within local government, including Social Research Analyst, Community Development Officer and Co-ordinator of Community Policy and Programs.
Kathryn has a Bachelor of Arts with an honours undergraduate degree and a Master of Public Policy (University of Melbourne). In addition, Kathryn has completed some IAP2 certificates and social research training.
Ondine Bradbury is currently a Research Worker - STEM Research Central.
Previously, Ondine held the role of Project Officer in the APLNG STEM Central Research Project – Embedding STEM In Learning and Teaching. Ondine has over a decade of experience in mainstream classrooms and has held roles in the professional experience space in two Victorian universities. Her interests include identifying the critical moments in teachers' professional development, particularly in leadership roles.
Ondine holds a strong desire to connect teaching and learning communities and to build and grow collaborative networks across a range of educational settings.
