CQUni automotive training helps Jack secure Lawrences Motors apprenticeship
Jack Field might have only just started his apprenticeship at Lawrences Motors' but he already looking down the road to a long career as an automotive mechanic.
Jack began the first year of his apprenticeship at the Lawrences Motors workshop earlier this year' after completing a Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation at CQUniversity's Rockhampton City campus.
"I had an interest in (automotive mechanical) work from a very young age and was a very hands-on type of person. I just loved fixing things that were broken'"
Jack said.
He said he enjoyed acquiring skills and knowledge at CQUniversity.
"I very much enjoyed my time at CQUni' learning a lot about mechanic work and always learning new things. Plus' the staff are great'"
he said.
"(Lawrence's) is a great environment to work in and the people are very helpful and that makes it enjoyable."
Lawrences Motors Service Manager Mick Corneal said two Lawrences apprentices were currently undertaking training at CQUniversity.
"In the past we have previously secured employees who have completed courses at CQUni – we find they are suitable for an immediate apprenticeship because they are workshop ready'"
he said.
"The training at CQUni helped Jack realise that his dream of becoming a motor mechanic was what he wanted to achieve."
Jack said he looked forward to completing his apprenticeship at Lawrences.
"I want to use my skills and abilities to excel into bigger things. I'm just excited to see where I can go in life'"
he said.
