Hundreds attend Emerald Careers Expo

More than 500 people travelled from throughout the Central Highlands to attend the 2022 Emerald Careers Expo.

Commuting from as far as Longreach' 546 Years 10 to 12 high school students attended the annual event held on Friday' 20 May.

CQUniversity Associate Vice-President Rockhampton and Central Highlands Regions Kim Harrington said the Expo provided a glimpse into a variety of career and study options.

"Thirty-eight exhibitors shared their experiences' representing a range of industries' including engineering' electrical' mining' agriculture' Queensland Government' health' universities' hospitality and service industries' information technology' community support and defence forces'" Ms Harrington said.

"Reports we have received back from the students' schools and exhibitors was that it was a great event'" she said.

"It's all about having quality conversations with those attending. Hearing first-hand accounts on what it is like to work in a chosen field and the pathways that need to be taken to achieve that is invaluable for both students preparing to leave school and adults interested in a career change or upskilling.

"We hope the expo has helped those attending set their future career goals."

Emerald singer Gypsy Brunker provided musical entertainment and a number of prizes were given away during the expo.

Jayden McMaster and Martial Sandilands were the lucky winners of AirPods; Shanti Woodham' Stella Sampson and Lily-Rose Latham each won a Cat Toolkit; and Vicky Linnell' Reuben Harrold and Max Power each took home a $100 Officeworks gift voucher.
