Close to 200 graduates have crossed the stage at the Convention Centre, as CQUniversity held its biggest Cairns graduation ceremony yet.
Graduates represented a diverse field from Vocational Education and Training (VET) to Higher Education and postgraduates in fields including Aviation, Engineering, Exercise & Sports Science, Paramedic Science, Nursing, Education and Psychology, at the event on Wednesday 22 April 2026.
Seventeen Indigenous graduates received their testamurs and three people were presented with PhDs.
Cairns campus Associate Vice-President Kate Harvey said the ceremony marked a significant milestone not only for the graduates but for CQUniversity in Cairns.
“Seeing almost 200 graduates cross the stage at our latest ceremony was a powerful reflection of the growth of our region and the determination of our students,” Ms Harvey said.
“Each graduate that crossed the stage today has a unique story of perseverance, commitment and ambition. Many have balanced study with work, family and other responsibilities – and this achievement is a testament to their resilience.”
Ms Harvey said the graduates would now enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge to make a real difference in communities across Far North Queensland and beyond.
“We are incredibly proud to be contributing to the region’s future through education” she said.
“Today’s ceremony highlighted the diversity of our student cohort, from vocational learners through to postgraduate researchers.
“That breadth is something we are particularly proud of at CQUniversity, as it reflects our commitment to accessible education pathways.
“As our graduates step into the next chapter of their careers, we know they will carry forward the values, knowledge and confidence they’ve gained at CQUniversity.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in the years ahead.”
