New strategy to supercharge student success
CQUniversity is committed to learning and teaching that’s adaptive, authentic, and social, with a new approach to future-proofing education as tech revolutionises workplaces.
CQU has launched a fresh strategy to grow accessible and supportive education for its 30,000 current students, and renewed commitment to learners from disadvantaged, mature age, Indigenous, and first-in-family backgrounds.
The plan aims to connect more students with support for problem-solving and real-world experience, so they can successfully graduate and achieve their dream careers.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp unveiled the CQUniversity Learning and Teaching Strategy: FutureNow on Tuesday 3 March at CQU Rockhampton.
Future-focused road map
He said the innovative strategy responds to key “paradigm shifts” in learning and workplaces.
“In a world of rapid technological change, shifting workforce demands and increasing student expectations, this strategy provides CQUniversity with a future-focused road map,” Prof Klomp said.
“It reflects who we are as a University, the values that guide us and reinforces our vision of being Australia’s most accessible and supportive university.”
“In short, CQUniversity graduates will be equipped for improving futures and changing lives.”
Responsive life-long learning
Professor Christina Hong is CQU’s Deputy Vice-President for Education, Strategy and Quality, and said rapidly-changing workplaces required ongoing and adaptable education and upskilling.
“We are embracing a future-focused, human-centred, and technology-enhanced approach to enabling life-long learning opportunities across our diverse regional populations,” Prof Hong explained.
“Quality training and education must be responsive shifting workplace needs and enable graduates to confidently contribute solutions to complex professional, community, and industry challenges.
“At the same time, FutureNow highlights CQUniversity’s strong commitment to supporting students, and giving them every opportunity to complete their qualifications, and gain experience and skills for new future-proofed careers.”
The strategy launch is a significant milestone for CQUniversity, and the evolving document gives cohesive direction for educational practice, curriculum design, assessment approaches, and student support across all disciplines, campuses, and delivery modes.
Prof Klomp and Prof Hong acknowledged the “substantial contributions” of CQU academics and staff to support the development of the strategy and drive its implementation.
