It was the event she had been waiting six months for – finally crossing the graduation stage to receive her university degree.

But it was the phone call she received while walking in that made the ceremony all the more special.

“I had just arrived and got my cap and gown, and my phone dinged,” CQUniversity Bachelor of Paramedic Science graduate Hannah Egan said with a joyful tone in her voice.

“On the other end was someone from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) offering me a job at the Ingham Station,” she explained.

“It’s a long time in the making and it’s definitely bittersweet!”

Hannah was one of more than 120 graduates to cross the stage at the CQU Townsville graduation last week

She’ll start her induction in a fortnight before getting straight on the road as a newly minted paramedic.
