CQUni Diploma of Leadership and Management student Ben Jones has been named Vocational Student of the Year at the North Queensland Regional Queensland Training Awards.
CQUniversity Diploma of Leadership and Management student Benjamin Jones is on cloud nine after winning the Vocational Student of the Year category at the North Queensland Regional Queensland Training Awards on 23 July.
In presenting the award the Queensland Training Award judges said Ben’s background as a diesel fitter made him a strong advocate for the benefits provided by training, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Ben, who lives in Townsville, acknowledged that his CQUniversity training put him good stead for the awards.
“I am grateful to be awarded the North Queensland Vocational Student of the Year. I hope being recognised promotes vocational education to those that are unsure about what and where to study,” he said.
Ben’s studies helped him secure a new job with Sherrin Rentals, an earthmoving hire company in Townsville, that supplies excavators and other machinery to local businesses, like Ergon Energy.
“I think the award will assist me in building my own personal brand as a quality employee and student.
“I have always had goals to complete higher education and would love to complete further study through CQUni.”
In fact, Ben plans to progress into a Bachelor of Business.
The Awards were held online due to COVID-19.
