Experienced social entrepreneurs CQU Social Innovation Project Manager Steve Williams and Impact Boom founder Tom Allen are leading the iActivate short course.
In Australia and globally, social innovators are changing how the world does business – and CQUniversity and Impact Boom are supporting ‘business for good’ to change the world.
iActivate - Design and Grow Business for Good is a national first, an online social enterprise course developed in collaboration by a sector leader and Australia’s only Changemaker University, accredited by Ashoka U global social innovation network.
The self-paced and ultra-flexible iActivate course guides aspiring and early-career social entrepreneurs from idea to impact, and launched in September 2020.
Students will learn practical and proven methods for developing social enterprise and business for good, across 12 expert-curated and industry-connected modules.
CQUniversity, a leader in world-class online education, is offering an iActivate: Business for Good microcredential when students complete this exciting new course.
CQU Social Innovation Program Manager and experienced social entrepreneur Steve Williams said iActivate met sector demand for practical and flexible education.
“Interest in social innovation and enterprise, and business for good, is growing globally, as communities look for creative and business-driven solutions to address social and environmental issues, for local and global impact,” Mr Williams explained.
“iActivate uses our experience building social enterprise to create clear, proven and actionable steps, activities and processes to get started and to grow a social enterprise or business for good.”
The course builds on Impact Boom’s successful Elevate+ Accelerator Program for social entrepreneurs, and CQUniversity’s range of social innovation qualifications and initiatives, from entry-level to postgraduate.
Tom Allen, who founded Impact Boom to connect, inspire and educate social entrepreneurs, said the iActivate collaboration meant students would increase their skills and reach in the social enterprise sector in Australia, and internationally.
“Whether you’ve got a social issue you want to tackle, or whether you’re in the for-good sector and want to grow your business, getting the right advice from the start can be a gamechanger,” Mr Allen said.
“As we face increasingly complex problems for people, and for the planet, there have never been more opportunities to make a real impact, and iActivate supports that process.”
iActivate outlines clear and actionable steps for defining goals and impacts, understanding business-for-good ecosystems, applying sustainable and innovative business models, prototyping a social enterprise startup, pitching and storytelling, collaborating, scaling and measuring impacts.
Engaging video content connects students with experienced social entrepreneurs from Australian businesses for good including Mumma Got Skills, Bertonni, Food Connect and Mantua Sewing Studio.
