CQUniversity graduates more likely to get jobs soon after completing, than those from big-city unis

CQUniversity graduates continue to secure employment soon after completing their degrees, according to the 2020 Graduate Outcomes Survey.
Despite the COVID-19 recession and a weakening labour market, 73 percent of CQU graduates have landed full-time employment within four months of graduating (national average 69.1 percent).
CQUniversity placed 11th on the list of universities nationally and third in Queensland.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp said the results were pleasing.
“It's great to be placed at number three in Queensland for full-time employment,” Professor Klomp said.
“It is also very pleasing to see so many regional universities ranking highly, which again proves that you don't need to move out of the regions to gain a quality education and subsequent employment.”
Professor Klomp said CQUniversity pride themselves on having an excellent reputation when it comes to graduate outcomes, with the University placing a strong focus on ensuring graduates were work-ready and equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen career.
“We change lives by creating highly employable graduates with the skills, experience and expertise to take on the roles of the future.
“Many of our courses have great industry placement opportunities and we encourage students to get involved in various leadership and mentoring opportunities. Likewise, we are also delivering courses that directly meet skill demands, particularly in regional Australia (for example in Allied Health, Engineering and Education). Because of this, many of our students connect with related industries and find employment even before they graduate.”
