Graduation medal winner Rohit Sudhakaran was all smiles at the recent CQUni Melbourne afternoon ceremony.

When IT specialist Rohit Sudhakaran left India to broaden his cultural horizons in Australia, little did he realise the true breadth of opportunities that would open up.

Originally from the Indian state of Kerala, Rohit completed his bachelor degree and worked as a programmer for both Amazon and Cognizant before seeking fresh challenges abroad.

He moved to CQUniversity Melbourne around two years ago to complete a Master of Information Technology (Mobile Application Development).

“I enjoyed a three-month internship as a software developer intern at the Redstack design technology business as part of my Masters program,” Rohit says.

“I was also employed as a social innovation ambassador at CQUni and this led to one of the highlights of going to the Ashoka U conference in San Diego in California, where I networked with top Uni students from Harvard and MIT to brainstorm how to create positive change in society by using our skills.”

Rohit not only found a passion for social innovation but visiting Melbourne also helped him meet his Aussie-born girlfriend.

His high academic and student engagment achievements earned him the Associate Vice-Chancellor’s Victoria Region Medal, presented at the recent CQUni Melbourne Graduation.

And the icing on the cake is that Rohit has just been employed as a web developer at Out In The Clouds, a technology company based in Melbourne.
