On the eve of World Voice Day, CQUniversity Cairns students will be helping to bring people together through song at their local Union Jack Hotel, known as The Jack.

Creative Arts academic Keesha McLean is inspiring her voice students and those from other degree areas to join people from the wider community at The Big Sing, from 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, 15 April.

Keesha is Director of the Cairns Voice Studio and is also enrolled at CQUniversity, in the Graduate Certificate in Creative and Professional Practice.

“Pub choirs are catching on and The Big Sing will be continuing this spirit as participants will only need a passion for singing … there’s no experience required,” Keesha says.

“Two well-loved iconic rock anthems will be learnt on the day, in two-part harmony.

“We will have Dr. Elephant vocalist Damien Wicks and guitarist Danny Johnson on hand to accompany the entire crowd.”

The Big Sing is being presented by Cairns Voice StudioThe Jack, and Oasis Magazine. It will also feature Emily Hapea Music and MC Extraordinaire Andi Egan.

All profits made on the day from gold coin donations and a sausage sizzle will go to Kick On, working to eradicate Youth Suicide in Cairns.
