Tailored Campus Facilities plus On-Going Academic Support Leads to Positive CQUni Experience

Diploma of Nursing student Lara Sheppard claims the CQUni Noosa campus accommodates her family and study needs.

Imagine a place where your study and family needs are accommodated.

This place exists, according to CQUni Diploma of Nursing student and mother-of-two, Lara Sheppard.

“Not only does the CQUniversity Noosa campus offer the course via distance education, there is also a childcare centre next door, both of which allow me to balance my work, family and study commitments,” she said.

So much so the ambitious 30-year-old will use the diploma as a career pathway to become a registered nurse.

“I currently work as an Assistant in Nursing on the Sunshine Coast, but I knew from the onset I wanted to further my skillset,” she said.

“The diploma qualification will allow me to work as an Enrolled Nurse while I continue my studies with the Bachelor of Nursing.”

Lara claims her drive to stay committed is strengthened by the support she has received from academic staff and friends on campus.

“I am able to learn from highly skilled lecturers and experience first-hand how to use clinical laboratory equipment at nursing residential schools,” she said.

“There are so many avenues to access extra assistance, if needed, which means, as a distance student, I never feel alone.

“I have made plenty of new friends and although we have only know each other for six months, it feels like a lifetime.”

The diploma has provided Lara with many academic and social benefits and claims others can have the same experience.

“Honestly, the course is for everyone," she said.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re a new mother who wants to enter the nursing sector or a full-time employee who can’t afford to take much time off work, the course has been developed to suit everyone.

“When the course is studied at a campus that accommodates its students’ needs, it makes for a positive, memorable university experience.”
