CQUniversity Business students recently had the chance to learn from a representative of Bundaberg's world-leading macadamia industry.

Local academic Dr John McGrath arranged a talk by Brice Kaddatz from Macadamia and Horticultural Services.

Mr Kaddatz described how the Bundaberg region has overtaken the Northern Rivers as the highest-producing macadamia region in Australia.

Produce has grown almost fivefold over the past two decades and the region is now home to the world's largest producer of nuts and largest processing facility, Pacific Gold.

"Our students were able to understand the macadamia industry's contribution to the wider Bundaberg economy," Dr McGrath says.

"Student participants included two international students visiting from Bundaberg's sister city, Nanning, in China.

"The macadamia industry is a great exporter and CQUniversity is developing education as an export for Bundaberg region too."
