This course is an entry-level pathway program for school-based students and focuses on developing the skills needed to adapt to existing and new automated technologies introduced as a result of Industry 4.0. Graduates will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to work in entry level roles within autonomous environments and to undertake further education pathways in a range of technical, engineering, trade and information communication technology, innovative thinking, networking and programming. You'll learn to understand the programming language Python and use some of the coding, programming and simulator technologies. According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, job opportunities in this area are expected to experience strong growth with more than 17,700 positions expected by 2026.

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
February intakes open to Year 10 and 11 students. July intakes open to Year 10 students only, due to the 18-month duration.
Completion of the BKSB (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course. It is highly recommended that students have attained a Sound Achievement (SA) result in year 10 numeracy and literacy subjects or equivalent prior to enrolling in this course. There are no other entry requirements.
Resources required: It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access CQUniversity's online learning management system, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all CQUniversity locations.
CQUniversity online students must have access to a Windows 10 or 11 computer. Some tasks cannot be done on a Mac M1 computer. You will also require access to personal stationery and a USB or external hard drive (minimum 1TB).
Need to know: The course is 18 months (6 school terms) in duration. Compulsory face-to-face attendance is required 1-day per week at a CQUniversity campus.
Successful completion of this course will prepare you to enter and work within the fields of autonomous environments or continue with further study in this area.
