Overview

CQUniversity's Master of Construction Management prepares you to meet the current and future challenges of the building industry and embraces the principles of project management as it applies across different phases of the construction project cycle to achieve successful project outcomes, including time frames, cost, quality, safety and sustainability. You will develop an advanced knowledge of construction land planning and building legislation, construction measurement, cost planning and the use of building information modelling (BIM) as it applies to construction – a technological competency that is rapidly becoming a core requirement for design and construction professionals.

CQUniversity's Master of Construction Management is ideal for you if you are looking to build your construction management credentials for a career as a construction manager and you hold a three-year bachelor degree in areas related to construction such as architecture, building, construction management, engineering or project management.

A career in construction management is in high demand in today’s financial climate with employment opportunities worldwide. The building industry contributes substantially to the economy and provides housing, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and many other amenities for the community, nationally and throughout the world.

In this course, you will learn about the process of building construction from land planning and building legislation, procurement, risk management, and contract administration, and the use of building information modelling (BIM) as it applies to construction. With a focus on construction management and project management, you will gain skills and knowledge to embrace the principles of project management as they apply across different phases of the construction project cycle to achieve successful project outcomes in terms of time, cost, quality, safety and sustainability. As part of this course, you will complete a research project unit where you will have the opportunity to engage in applied research for a project relevant to the construction industry. This unit will also enable you to interact early with industry and apply your knowledge to a relevant work-based problem.
