CQUniversity's Masters of Information Systems is an ideal course to advance your career or expand your expertise in information system processes, providing you the skills to contribute to future organisational growth and change. In this course you will focus on building highly sought after skills in enterprise systems solutions including emerging technologies, big data and business intelligence to enhance management and organisational performance. You will then be able to tailor your studies even further to suit your career gaols with a choice of seven minors including a unique opportunity to study a unit sequence allowing you to graduate with both a Master of Information Systems and Graduate Certificate in Project Management. Accredited by the Australian Computer Society, this highly practical and industry-relevant degree will provide you with leading-edge knowledge and skills and features the option to complete a 12-week internship or capstone project.
The Master of Information Systems provides you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in information technology, with a focus on business analysis skills at a professional level. Within this highly relevant framework you will be well prepared to contribute to future growth and change, whilst at the same time enhancing your individual advancement opportunities. This course develops your capacity to manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems within an organisation in any industry.
Choose from a range of minors including artificial intelligence, internet of things, mobile application development, networks and information security, project management, or software design and development and tailor your studies to suit your career goals and interests.
This course will provide you with the choice of completing an internship or project stream to contextualise your learning. Generally, the internship will be made of up a 10-week placement with a relevant organisation, with assessments completed throughout the term. Please note, internships cannot be taken at your current employer. Alternatively, the capstone stream provides the opportunity to apply your knowledge to an industry-relevant project. Projects in the capstone stream may be taken with your employer, provided other students can also participate in the same project.

Structure & Availability
You are required to complete 15 units, comprising of 11 core units and one four-unit minor. As part of your core units, you will be required to complete either an internship or capstone stream. There are a variety of options available when selecting your electives. You may choose a four-unit minor in artificial intelligence, internet of things, software design and development, mobile application development, networks and information security, or project management.

Artificial Intelligence minor
In this minor, you'll develop practical and theoretical skills to apply artificial intelligence techniques to develop intelligent systems with advanced capabilities.
Information Systems and Analysis minor
Develop skills in optimising information systems to solve business problems. Extend your expertise to include business process management and emerging technologies in e-business. Plus, you'll gain experience with big data and business intelligence analysis.
Internet of Things minor
In this minor, you learn cloud computing, blockchains and the Internet of Things (IoT) to design smart applications and services for the future to lead with efficiencies.
Mobile Application minor
Development Build responsive and engaging mobile apps, including games, and web services with this minor.
Networks and Information Security minor
This minor introduces you to computer network design and cyber security technologies to ensure secure and reliable business operations.
Project Management minor
Broaden your skills in delivering successful IT projects from the planning phase to executing and closing. Plus, you'll explore methodologies for leading lean projects utilising project, program, and portfolio managers (PPPM).
Software Design and Development minor
Strengthen your skillset and incorporate designing and building software applications for enterprise systems into your speciality.
This course has no residential schools.

This course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the professional level.
Information Systems Project - COIT20254
Students are able to undertake discipline capstone units while working with industry partners.
Postgraduate ICT Internship - COIT20276
Students have the option of undertaking an internship instead of the capstone unit COIT20254.

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must have:
- A completed Bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian University or college, or equivalent; or
- A completed CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Information Systems, or equivalent; or
- A completed CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Information Technology, or equivalent.
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.
Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
- a secondary qualification (Year 11 or 12, or equivalent), or
- Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America.
If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:
- An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Bassd Test); or
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
- An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.
Each student will be assessed individually.
