The CQUniCares Industry Placement Scholarship assists students from regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons undertaking extended compulsory unpaid placements as part of their course requirements. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with required professional resources, uniforms, living expenses, childcare, transport and accommodation costs incurred during unpaid placement.

To apply for the CQUniCares Industry Placement Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be identified as living in regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons for the duration of enrolment with CQUniversity.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study:
    • Bachelor
    • Associate Degree
    • Advanced Diploma (Higher Education)
    • Diploma (Higher Education)*
  • Be undertaking an unpaid industry placement in the current term in one block with a minimum duration of 5 weeks (200 hours).
  • Be an Australian, New Zealand Citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Visa**
  • Not have received or currently in receipt of a CQUniversity Scholarship/Sponsorship within the current term.
  • Not have received or currently in receipt of a CQUniCares Industry Placement Scholarship for the same placement unit.
  • Not have received or currently in receipt of the Nursing and Midwifery Regional, Rural and Remote Student Placement Allowance.

** Must have a permanent home address in Australia

Selection Process

As per the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) Funding requirements, the funds provided as part of this program are directed exclusively towards students studying an undergraduate course from regional and remote Australia (as defined by ABS), low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds (as defined by ABS), and/or Indigenous persons.

Students are required to apply for the CQUniCares Industry Placement Scholarship either before commencing or during the scheduled placement dates. Students will not be eligible for this scholarship if the placement is completed or passed.

As there are a limited number of scholarships available, all scholarships may be exhausted prior to the advertised closing date.

Payment of Scholarship

Successful applicants are required to enter their current financial institution details (banking details) into their MyCQU (refer to instructions) for payment to occur.

Payment will be made to the successful applicant within 2 weeks of notification of a successful application. Payments will be made electronically to the successful applicant’s nominated bank account.

Additional Information

As a scholarship recipient, you will be asked to participate in a feedback survey. You may also be approached to assist with promoting the CQUniversity Scholarships program by sharing your experiences as a recipient through media or invited to attend events such as Orientation or Open Day.

To apply for a CQUniCares Industry Placement Scholarship, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact the Student Scholarships Team by emailing studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au requesting an application form.
  2. Once the first eligibility checks are conducted, the Student Scholarships Team will send an application form to your student email.
  3. Return the completed form and relevant supporting documentation to studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au.

Please note bursaries may be exhausted prior to the advertised closing date.

Students will be notified of the outcome of their application via their student email accounts only. Decisions are final.
