The New Colombo Plan Semester Program supports approximately 1,200 Australian undergraduates students per annum to participate in Semester-based study, internships, practicums and research in up to 38 host locations in the Indo-Pacific. CQUniversity has secured the following funding for learning abroad experiences in 2026 and 2027:
- semester exchange in Fiji, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam
- engineering and IT internships in Indonesia
- social work placement in Indonesia
To be eligible for a NCP Semester Grant, applicants must:
be an Australian citizen
not be a current citizen or permanent resident of their proposed host location
be enrolled in a Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Honours Degree at CQUniversity and have completed at least one year of study (48 credit points) prior to the start of your learning abroad program
receive academic credit for your program
not be an employee of the branch of DFAT that administers the NCP
sign the NCP Student Code of Conduct and agree to comply with DFAT's PSEAH: Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Harassment Policy
