The New Colombo Plan Semester Program supports approximately 1,200 Australian undergraduates students per annum to participate in Semester-based study, internships, practicums and research in up to 38 host locations in the Indo-Pacific.  CQUniversity has secured the following funding for learning abroad experiences in 2026 and 2027:

  • semester exchange in Fiji, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam
  • engineering and IT internships in Indonesia
  • social work placement in Indonesia

To be eligible for a NCP Semester Grant, applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen

  • not be a current citizen or permanent resident of their proposed host location

  • be enrolled in a Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Honours Degree at CQUniversity and have completed at least one year of study (48 credit points) prior to the start of your learning abroad program

  • receive academic credit for your program

  • not be an employee of the branch of DFAT that administers the NCP

  • sign the NCP Student Code of Conduct and agree to comply with DFAT's PSEAH: Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Harassment Policy
