Enhancing Foodbank's Stakeholder Engagement

40% of all food produced in Australia goes to waste, and thus reducing food waste has significant economic, social, and environmental implications. Foodbank currently rescues over 37 million kilograms of food annually. However, current food rescue activities are meeting only 60% of the demand from people seeking food relief. Additionally, the available food is three times more than the current food rescue industry capacity. Hence there is a significant opportunity to increase the amount of food rescued with the associated benefit of reducing food waste. To achieve this, Foodbank must work with its many food rescue stakeholders. This project focuses on "Enhancing Foodbank's stakeholder engagement". As a part of the research team, the successful PhD candidate will get an opportunity to interact with Foodbank and its nationwide warehouses, volunteers closely, and food rescue charities to understand ways of enhancing stakeholder engagement in food rescue and thereby reduce food waste.
