Respecting the Gift: CONNECT
About the Research Project
This project will establish a national Indigenous genomics association to strengthen leadership and ensure that Indigenous peoples can shape and lead genomic research on their own terms.
Impact
The project will:
- Strengthen Indigenous leadership in genomics research
- Empower communities to engage in and guide genomic research
- Build capacity in data science and genomic technologies
- Improve understanding of genomic variation and uncover signatures of disease patterns in Indigenous populations
- Support the translation of research into culturally safe heath care
This research will ensure the benefits of genomic medicine are equitable, community led, and responsive to Indigenous priorities.
