About the Research Project
This project focuses on co-designing culturally appropriate resources to build community awareness and support health literacy in genomics and genetic healthcare through the First Nations Community Champions Group.
Impact
Key goals include:
- Creating resources that are ethical, inclusive, and culturally relevant
- Hosting workshops to capturing engagement and input
- Developing optional culturally appropriate regional resources
- Provide an inclusive and supportive mechanism to share information in a culturally safe and appropriate way
- Empower First Nations communities with information to increase access and health equity.
The Office of Research and Innovation (ORI), System Policy and Planning Division, is committed to enhancing health outcomes throughout the state by fostering research, innovation, and strategic partnerships, predominantly at a systems level.
The Genomics team is dedicated to advancing genomics research and precision health within Queensland’s healthcare system. The focus is on embedding genomics into everyday clinical practice and public health services. We support clinicians in research and facilitate collaboration with universities, industry and consumers and community to drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes for Queenslanders.
