Synopsis
Join Northern Australia's agricultural innovator, CQU's Institute for Future Farming Systems - a world leader in delivering practical solutions bolstering the productivity, profitability and sustainability of the horticulture sectors. Our team is looking for a Masters (or PhD) research student to examine the effectiveness of various optical geometries, together with the use of polarising filters, to improve existing spectrometric techniques for assessing intact fruit. In any spectroscopic system, there is light (electromagnetic radiation) that has interacted with the object of information and carries information on it, and light that has not so interacted but has reached the detector. The challenge is to separate these components. The use of polarising filters offers the potential for this by eliminating specular reflections.
