Thesis Name

The Emergence of High-Threat Medicine as a Response to the Threat of Intentional Mass Violence, Lone Wolf and Extremist Terrorism in Australia.

Thesis Abstract

In this research context, intentional mass violence (IMV) refers to violence targeting multiple civilians in public settings. Motivations for IMV can stem from Terrorism, mental illness, or ideologies rooted in fringe belief systems. Such incidents necessitate a coordinated response due to their potential for ongoing violence and the complex challenges they pose for response agencies.

Why My Research is Important/Impacts

This research will uncover the political, social and practical factors that have led to and continue to influence the emergence of a multi-agency high-threat medicine capability in Australia. By tracking the emergence of a high-threat medicine capability, the research can identify its current state, identify gaps in current response systems and suggest improvements through comprehensive analyses.Â
