Thesis Name

Adapting Pedagogy in the Age of GenAI in the Context of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Education for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Discipline

Thesis Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) holds the potential to significantly transform educational practices. However, its recent mainstream adoption has left limited time to thoroughly evaluate its application in education. This thesis aims to identify and validate the benefits of GenAI, recognize and mitigate its limitations and biases, and provide practical strategies for implementing GenAI in teaching and learning within vocational education settings in ICT (ChatGPT)

Why My Research is Important/Impacts

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) heralds a momentous change in practices that will provide extraordinary benefits. However, there is little formal structure provided for its use in teaching and learning strategies in Vocational Education and Training in ICT. Such structure is particularly important for ICT training as GenAI is forecast to have a larger impact on ICT industry occupations and its training products, than most other occupations. This research has the potential to reshape the way that teaching and learning is conducted for VET in ICT.
