A Qualitative Exploration of Women's Transition to Safety from Family & Domestic ViolenceThesis Abstract
This research will provide a new level of comprehension into the transitional period of leaving FDV. It will outline what helped the survivor in leaving, what made them feel safe, what helped their children (if any) feel safe, what helped them during the transitional journey. Utilising the strength-based thematic analysis this will assist in highlighting the differing aspects of the communities and individual lives that were the greatest asset in the transitional period.Â
Why My Research is Important/Impacts
The new knowledge gained through this research will determine which resources were of greatest positive impact to the female survivors of FDV, which may offer a domino effect of assistance in gaining funding for these resources to enable them to assist more women in becoming survivors. In retrospect with highlighting aspects that are of the greatest assist to the women and children silent attention will also be drawn to areas that are not of assistance during this transition and hopefully allowing these silent stakeholders to assess where they are lacking with support.
