Orientation events boost student excitement and connections
CQUniversity welcomed more than 2,500 new students at Term 2 Orientation activities held across the University's footprint.
The students participated in online and on-campus information sessions, with social activities delivered across the University’s campus footprint in Adelaide, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Rockhampton, Townsville and Sydney.
As part of the new program, students had the opportunity to view essential sessions through the Orientation TV (OTV) platform and could also opt-in to participate in several online ‘Boost’ sessions to connect them with information and initiatives that will help them to enhance their individual study journey and university experience.
More than 1,000 students attended on-campus activities where they were introduced to the University and enjoyed social events such as campus tours, live music, games, market stalls, giveaways, photobooths and food.
Nursing, Engineering and Information Technology were the most popular courses among Orientation attendees who were provided with the opportunity to attend faculty and school welcome sessions with their peers and teaching staff.
CQUniversity’s Melbourne Campus saw the greatest attendance as 300 students enjoyed hands-on activities and networking with peers over three days of Orientation events.
The events also proved to be a rewarding experience for Australia’s newest residents with 1,400 international students admitted at CQUniversity for Term 2, 2023. For many international students, the Orientation events provided their first opportunity to engage in university life and Australian culture.
The new CQUniversity term officially starts on Monday, 10 July with thousands of new and returning students commencing their studies.
