49 CQUniversity academics named in World's Top 2% Scientists list
CQUniversity's global research reputation has continued to grow, with 49 academics named in the latest Stanford University-Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list.Â
The result is up from 47 CQUniversity researchers recognised last year and highlights the University's increasing impact across a wide range of disciplines.Â
Released this week, the internationally recognised list identifies researchers whose work ranks among the most influential in the world based on citation data and other research performance measures. Researchers are evaluated using a composite indicator that considers citation impact, co-authorship and author positioning across publications.Â
Notably, Associate Professor Xianbo (Bill) Zhao, Emeritus Professor Bruce Prideaux, Professor Matthew Browne and Professor Nerilee Hing were ranked among the top 200 researchers globally in their respective fields.Â
Vice-President Research, Professor Grant Stanley said the recognition reflected CQUniversity's continued commitment to delivering research that addresses real-world challenges.
"To have 49 researchers recognised among the world's leading scientists is a tremendous achievement and reflects the quality, dedication and impact of the research being undertaken across CQUniversity," Professor Stanley said.
"Our researchers are working with industry, government and communities to tackle issues that matter, from health and wellbeing to engineering, environment, agriculture, technology and sustainability.
"This recognition demonstrates that research from regional Australia can have a significant global impact."
The Stanford University-Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list is compiled annually from a publicly available database developed by a team led by Stanford University researcher Professor John Ioannidis. Scientists are classified across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, with rankings reflecting their citation impact relative to peers worldwide.Â
